ABout BOTOX Injections
To turn back the hands of time, or to help prevent lines and wrinkles from forming on the upper face, Houston, TX plastic surgeon, Dr. Edward Lee, is proud to offer BOTOX to area patients. This injectable treatment with outstanding results is extremely popular among both men and women and can make a significant improvement to static lines and wrinkles on the upper face. Every time you move your face to create an expression, the muscles contract, creating lines and wrinkles, which disappear when you relax your face. As we age, these muscles become tight, causing dynamic lines and wrinkles that remain even when your face is relaxed. BOTOX is a purified strain of botulinum toxin (type A) that temporarily blocks the movements of the muscle. To correct these dynamic wrinkles, BOTOX can be injected to relax the facial muscle and smooth the skin over it. BOTOX injections are most commonly placed between the brows, the "crow's feet" around the eyes, and the "frown lines" on the forehead.
BOTOX injections are best for patients who want to smooth the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles on their face without surgery. BOTOX can also be used as a preventative treatment even if you do not show signs of aging, but tend to make a lot of facial expressions. It is a great nonsurgical solution if you have forehead wrinkles, lines between the brows, or Crow's feet, and desire a softer appearance. If you have deeper lines in some areas, you may be a candidate for a combination of both BOTOX and a filler product. In addition, if you are older and have sagging skin that accompanies the lines and wrinkles, you may be a better candidate for a more long-term surgical solution, such as a facelift, brow lift, or eyelid lift.
"I've been seeing Dr. Cheng for a couple of years now and she has improved the appearance of my skin immensely!! She is nice and patient and always happy to answer all the questions I have. She really keeps up with the very latest techniques and products to reduce wrinkles and brown spots. She's great with Botox and Restylane and IPL Fotofacial. She doesn't push products on you that you don't need and is helpful with advice on what you can do yourself to keep your skin looking healthy. I highly recommend her."- A.W. / Yelp / Nov 19, 2012
"I have been going to Dr Cheng for at least 6 years . She is an artist with Botox and fillers ! I always feel like I look a little more fresh not overdone , which gives me more confidence . I am in the service industry and have referred many if my clients and friends to her , all have been very grateful and satisfied!"- C.O. / Yelp / Sep 23, 2013
"I have been going to her for quite some time. I use her for Botox in my forehead and I've used her for filler in my lips once. She charges $13/unit for Botox and this lady really knows how to use a needle. I always am left with tons of expression and movement in my forehead minus the wrinkles. I also like that She's an MD and ONLY does this as opposed to many doctors who specialize in other areas and occasionally do Botox on the side. Practice makes perfect. I really liked how she did the filler in my lips as well. It was incredibly natural...no duck face here!!!! I have sent friends her way and they have become fans of Dr. Cheng as well. She spends her time with you and will always take the natural approach."- E.M. / Yelp / Jul 17, 2013
"I am so pleased with the results of my botox and lip injections (first time ever). They are natural, not too big but just adding that added plump. So relieved to find a great doctor in Houston so that I can discontinue driving to DFW for treatment."- C.A. / Facebook / Mar 31, 2016
"Marty does brilliant work with injectables. She makes a plan, takes her time. She is very experienced and knowledgeable. I was comfortable with her and very impressed with the results. I had natural, but noticeable changes and Marty made suggestions no one else had. :)"- C.G. / Yelp / May 03, 2018
Plan Your Procedure
- Procedure Recovery Location
BOTOX injections are performed as an outpatient procedure directly in our office. If it is your first time to visit us about BOTOX, we usually perform the injection during the same appointment as your consultation. You will be asked to make a number of facial expressions involving the upper face, such as squinting, frowning, etc., which will allow us to see where the injections need to be placed. The skin will be cleansed and the BOTOX will be injected through a fine needle, with cold gentle compressions immediately after to help prevent bruising and discomfort. Patients may request a numbing cream or ice pack to make their treatment more comfortable, but this generally is not necessary. BOTOX injections typically take about 10-15 minutes and patients can return to their normal activities almost immediately.
What to Expect
After the injection, patients can resume their normal activities, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours. Patients are also asked to sleep upright for the first night and to not touch their face, which may accidentally spread the treatment to other areas. The treated areas of the face may be slightly red, swollen, or bruised for a few days after the injection, but most patients will not experience any serious or lasting side effects from BOTOX treatments. In most patients, it generally takes about 5 – 7 days before the full effects of BOTOX are visible. The results typically last 3 – 4 months. Our patients receiving BOTOX for the first time are so happy after their first treatment and excited about their results, that we almost always continue to see them every few months for their touch-up. We love having our patients back each time as we become a partner in helping them keep their skin looking smooth and rejuvenated!
Smile Without Worry
Don't worry! You can smile, frown, laugh, and make any expression you want without causing wrinkles thanks to BOTOX injectable treatments. To smooth and prevent dynamic wrinkles on the face, we invite you to schedule a consultation to learn more about this amazing nonsurgical wrinkle treatment.
